Independently Designed and Built Chair

This chair is my final project for the Fine Furniture program. We were required to create dining chairs that would fit into a standard Fedex shipping container. My design was inspired by mid-century modern design and especially by the work of the Eames. I was also interested in expanding my experience using bent laminations. The entire piece is made from reclaimed local western maple and doorskin. I made all of the maple veneer myself.

Cabinet

This is a display cabinet made from cherry.

Shaker side table

This Shaker inspired side table has a completely hand made drawer, including hand cut and planed pieces as well as hand cut dovetails.

Arts and Crafts stool

This is a small stool created and built in the arts and crafts style. This includes exposed joinery such as through tenons and dovetails joints.

Wooden Briefcase

This briefcase was created using a different style of joinery ( short spline, long spline, box joint and rabbit) in each corner of the box. It also has hand made wooden hinges.

Lamp

This lamp was designed and built for an assignment that required the implementation of bent lamination. The shade is a bent lamination using a number of layers of veneer pressed in a vacuum bag over a form I created.

Small Box

This is a small box with dovetail splines and sliding lid.

Book Holder

This is a desk top book holder with a drawer.

Mirror

This mirror was created as a part of a design assignment that required me to build a mirror based on some aspect of Art Deco design. The mirror was created using Auto Cad in conjunction with the CNC router.
